With fine weather on the horizon I do hope you have booked in to play this weekend. On Saturday, Club Captain Neville Ovens has his Captain's Choice event with plenty going on throughout the day. This year Neville will be supporting the RNLI and St Michael's Hospice.
THSG Junior Academy Starts Building the Future at ROWGC
Over the last few weeks you may have seen budding young golfers take to the course and practice facilities at ROWGC. If you haven't, you really have missed seeing a wealth of talent! The THSG Junior Academies are under way and I am very excited to say they have been very well subscribed. Yet more positive news on the junior front; the Saturday morning coaching now regularly sees over 12 talented youngsters every week. On the back of the success, Leighton and I have come up with an initiative to help these budding youngsters make the progression from starting the game to membership a little easier. This is in the shape of a new category of membership called the Academy Membership. The membership will sit under the main junior membership and allow the youngsters access to the course at certain times. It will also allow the youngsters to carry on their training on our extensive practice facilities while being monitored by their parents. As part of this initiative we are also putting in some new tees for this category, called the Academy Tees. These are at the front of all tee boxes and are maroon in colour. Shortening the course for this type of membership will be crucial, as it will improve the experience out on the course where it matters.

The Junior Academy Days will be held through the summer holidays and give young budding golfers the chance to improve their golf and play our great course.

Steve Aces the 7th! |
Steve Strikes Ace To Cap Off Great Round!
ROWGC Member Steve Bartholmew hit the shot of his dreams last week to score his first ever hole in one at the 7th hole. His perfect 7 iron took a couple of bounces before disappearing to both his and his playing partner's astonishment. After speaking with Steve, he commented how this shot was "22 years in the making" and how it made him one very happy golfer. Congratulations Steve.

New PING Equipment
PING have launched their first adjustable Driver and Fairway in the new PING Anser range of Metalwoods, which also includes a new Hybrid.
As ever with PING, there will be a focus on substance and performance and not just adjustability for the sake of it.
